Can’t join us in person on the Gold Coast? We have a curated program of films, events, and industry panels available to view online, from wherever you are.

Featuring new Australian and international films from the 2021 program, alongside a selection of the 2020 GCFF program favourites and a special retrospective of Sue Maslin AO works, film fans around Australia are invited to escape to a world of film from the comfort of their couch.

For screen industry professionals (and those aspiring to be), tune in for discussion panels from the Pitch In Paradise market, a selection of REELLife panels, Future Filmmakers; and the Gold Coast Film Festival’s prestigious awards evening, the Screen Industry Gala Awards.

Online Film Screenings: SHIFT 72 Tech Guide

The Gold Coast Film Festival 2021 features an online film program with select films that are available to rent and view during the festival.

How do I access the program?

Please visit http://ondemand.gcfilmfestival.com to view the full digital film program.

Where can I view details of each film?

By clicking on the poster or image for each film, you can view:

  • Rating
  • Genre
  • Title length
  • Synopsis
  • Cast and Crew
  • Language
  • Country

Creating an Account

To rent a film from the digital program, you will first need to create an account. You can do this two ways:

1. Follow the prompts after selecting the film you wish to rent OR
2. By clicking the ‘Create Account’ blue button in the top right corner.

To view your rented films or continue renting films, you will need to be signed into your account, which you can do by clicking the ‘Sign In’ button in the top right.

How to Rent Films

To rent a film from the program, please click on the icon of the film you wish to view.

Hovering over the films will show the price to rent of each one. To rent a film:

  • Click the blue ‘rent’ button over the title of your choice.
  • Create or sign into your account, if you haven’t already done so.
  • Input your payment details.
  • Once payment has been verified, you will also automatically be sent a copy of the purchase receipt to your nominated email address.

The process for renting each film is the same, and must be repeated for each film you wish to rent.   

Can I save films to rent later?

If you wish to save films to revisit or rent at a later date, click the ‘Add to My List’ icon under the synopsis. You can access your list at anytime by clicking your name in the top right corner and selecting ‘My List’ from the drop-down menu.

How to Play Films

Once you have rented the film, it is available for you to play on the platform. Hover over the title you have rented. The ‘Rent’ button will change to ‘Play’, allowing you to play or resume the film. 

Alternatively, you can view your rented films by clicking your name in the top right hand corner, and selecting ‘My Library’. Click the title you wish to play, and then click ‘Play Now’.   

Note: the films will not be available to stream before April 14th at 12am.

When do the films become available?

The films will become available to view on the 14th of April at 12am.

Prior to this date, the films will be in pre-sale. If you click ‘Play Now’ prior to the 14th of April, a countdown calendar will appear.

How long do I have to view my film?

Once you have rented your film, you will have 7 days to view the film before the rental period expires. In addition, once playback of the film has been started, you will have 72hrs to complete your viewing of the film. 

If you have rented a film in pre-sale prior to the 14th of April, your 7 day period will begin on the 14th of April at 12am.

I have a code; how do I redeem it?

To redeem a promo code:

  • Click the film you wish to rent.
  • Tick ‘I have a promo code’.
  • Enter the promo code.
  • Click apply.

This will apply the promo or discount to your ticket price, allowing you to complete payment.

IMPORTANT: Browser Requirements

The online film catalogue can be browsed and films can be purchased using Safari, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla, Firefox and Opera.

However, once films are purchased, they must be streamed using either Safari, Microsoft Edge or the latest Google Chrome browser. Please see below for streaming instructions.

Streaming Requirements

To stream the digital film selection, please observe the following browser requirements.

To view the film using MacOS computers:

  • Please use or download the Safari browser. 

To view on Windows computers:

  • Please use or download the Microsoft Edge browser OR
  • Please use or download the latest version of the Google Chrome browser.

If you are using Microsoft Edge and experiencing technical issues, you can confirm whether your browser meets the requirement through the following:

  • In your Edge browser, copy and paste the following: edge://gpu
  • Check the following settings:
    ‘Compositing’ is ‘Hardware Accelerated’

‘Direct composition” is “true’.

If your settings do not reflect the above then your browser may not meet the requirements to stream the films.

I am having trouble buying tickets.

If you are having trouble purchasing tickets, please check the following:

The film says it is ‘not available in your country’.

The digital film program is only available to rent and view in Australia. You cannot rent from outside Australia or by using an international VPN.

 The film says ‘sold out’.

All of our digital program films have a rental cap. If the films reach their rental cap, the film will be no longer available to download.

Deleting your Account

If you would like to delete your account, please email online@gcfilmfestival.com with your statement in writing.

Livestream Platform Tech Information

Creating a Login
Before you purchase tickets you will be required to create an account. 

You can create an account by:

Clicking the ‘Buy Digital Tickets’ button.

This will automatically ask you to create a Course Rebel account (our livestream provider).

Enter your username and password details.

Click on the ‘Escape to a World of Film’ image.

This will take you to the website’s landing page, where you can view the Digital Schedule, Livestream Pages, Tech Information and more.

How to Book Tickets

To purchase tickets, you will first need to create an account with Course Rebel, our livestream provider.

To create an account and book livestreaming tickets:

  • Click the ‘buy digital ticket’.
  • You will then need to make a Course Rebel account in order to proceed.
    If you have already created your account, at step 2 please enter your username and password.
  • Accept terms and conditions.
  • Click ‘view now’.
  • Click the ‘Escape to a World of Film Icon’.

You will now arrive back on the livestreaming home page. Now you are logged in, you are able to purchase tickets by:

  • Clicking the ‘Livestream Digital Icon’ (the first icon on the home page).

This will bring up a calendar schedule of all livestreamed events.

To purchase Pitch in Paradise panel tickets:

  • Click ‘Buy Tickets’ on the first event ‘Pitch in Paradise Program’, or any of the panels with ‘Pitch in Paradise’ in the title. Purchasing a Pitch in Paradise ticket allow you access to the entire Pitch in Paradise Program.

To purchase REELLife panel tickets:

  • Click ‘Buy Tickets’ on the first event ‘REELLife Program’, or any of the panels with ‘REELLife’ in the title. Purchasing a ‘REELLife’ ticket allow you access to the entire Pitch in Paradise Program.

To register for the Screen Industry Gala:

  • Click ‘Buy Tickets’ next to the Screen Industry Gala event. This event is free to view, however registration is required.

What Panels Can I Access with My Tickets?

Pitch in Paradise tickets – allows access to all Pitch in Paradise Panels
REELLIFE tickets – ticket purchase allows access to all Pitch in Paradise Panels
Screen Industry Gala Awards ticket – single event ticket, registration is free.
Future Filmmakers – single event ticket, users will be provided a code for login. 

Accessing Livestreamed Panels

Once you are logged in, you can access your purchased livestreamed events by heading to the home page of the website.  There are corresponding icons for each panel and event – Screen Industry Gala, Pitch in Paradise, REELLife Program and Future Filmmakers.

If you navigate to other pages during your browsing session, you will not be logged out, and can re-enter the livestream page at any time.

If you log out of the program or clear your history, you will be required to log into your Course Rebel account again in order to access your purchased content.  

Viewing the Panels
Each category has a corresponding page to view the live stream. These can be found by locating the icon on the front page for your event.

A livestream pre-show automatically begins no less than 15 minutes before the event. Once the event starts, this will automatically appear on the live stream.

All Pitch in Paradise Panels across the 15-16th of April can be viewed by visiting the Paradise Program page, by clicking the icon on the home page.

The REELLIFE panels across the 24th of April can be found under the REELLIFE program icon.

The Screen Industry Gala event livestream on the 15th of April can be found under the Screen Industry Gala icon.

The Future Filmmaker livestream on the 22nd of April can be found under the Future Filmmaker icon.

Duration of Purchase

The duration of your livestream access will last in accordance with the panels you have purchased.

Access to the Pitch in Paradise Panels is from the 15-16th of April (refer to event calendar for specific times).

Access to the REELLIFE panels begins on the 24th April .

Access to the Screen Industry Gala will allow you to view the livestream from 6:00pm April 15th (pre-show entertainment no later than 15mins prior to the event).

Access to the Future Filmmakers panels will allow you to view the livestream from 9:30am April 22nd.

You will be able to browse the platform using your login details without purchasing anything further.

You can enter the livestream page at any time; however content isn’t viewable unless you have purchased a ticket. Purchased events will go live 15mins prior to start time.

Tech information/ computer system viewing requirements

Live streaming requires a adequate internet connection, a computer or tablet with working speakers, the most recent version of Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari or Opera (we recommend Google Chrome) and an internet connection with minimum 500+ Kbps.

 

Some government and school networks may limit access to courserebel.com – if you experience difficulties due to these security setting, please talk to your network provider.

To use the chat function, please enter your name.

Third Party Provider

Gold Coast Film Festival livestream program is hosted by a third party providers. The livestream platform and payment gateway are bound by the terms and conditions of the respective third party provider.

 

LIVE-STREAMED EVENTS PLATFORM: TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms and Conditions – Livestreaming Platform

1.0 Definitions

The Company, we and us means Gold Coast Film Fantastic.

Acceptance of Terms

These terms form the basis on which you agree to use The Company’s livestreaming platform.

These terms represent a legally binding agreement between you and The Company.  By using the Platform (which includes accessing the Platform, creating an account, and engaging with livestreamed content), you accept these terms and agree to abide by them.

We reserve the right to change these terms.  If we do so, then prior to any subsequent purchase of any Platform Content, you will receive an email notifying you of the updated terms to the email address you provided when creating your account.

 

2.0 Use of the Platform

The Platform permits you livestream our platform content for your personal use in accordance with these terms, including any terms specific to particular Platform Content. 

 

3.0 Purchase and Payment

To use the Platform you must create an account and you must agree to these terms. 

Once you have created a User Account you can elect to purchase livestreamed panels and events.  The fees are specified on the Platform and will be indicated to you before you confirm payment.  Fees are subject to change from time to time without notice.   

Once you have submitted your order for the rental of any Platform Content you will not be able to cancel your order. 

Payment processing for buying or renting Platform Content is handled by a third party payment gateway provider.  When buying or renting Platform Content you will need to enter your credit card details into the payment system before you are able to view the Platform Content.  All payments via this system are processed using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol, where sensitive information is encrypted to protect your privacy. 

If you suspect there has been a fraudulent credit card transaction recorded in respect of the Platform you must contact The Company directly to resolve your complaint.  The Company will cooperate with the third party payment gateway to provide reasonable assistance in resolving any complaint. 

The Company accepts no liability for any losses you may incur as a result of any breach of terms either by yourself or by our third party payment provider and if you have any complaints regarding the payment process you need to raise these with The Company directly

4.0 User Accounts

Some important details about your User Account: 

– Don’t reveal your account information to anyone else; 

– You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your User Account and for all activities that occur on or through your User Account; 

– You agree to immediately notify The Company of any security breach of your User Account; 

– The Company shall not be responsible for any losses arising out of the unauthorised use of your User Account; 

– If you create a User Account and/or use the Platform on someone else’s behalf, you warrant that you have that person’s authority to do so.  You also accept all liability and the consequences for any breaches of these terms resulting from any unauthorised activity you conduct.

You shall not access or attempt to access a User Account that you are not authorised to access.

You agree to provide accurate and complete information when you become a User, and as you use, the Platform and you agree to update such information to keep it accurate and complete. 

 

5.0 Access to Platform Content

Platform Content is available to Users to purchase for streaming via the Platform.

Livestreamed content will be available on the date and time of the event, specified in the Livestream Event Schedule.

 

You acknowledge that the volume of data consumed by accessing the Platform Content is typically high. The payments you make to rent or purchase Platform Content do not include any charges for internet usage. You are solely responsible for any internet usage or charges that your ISP may apply in relation to accessing Platform Content. 

 

6.0 Privacy

We respect your privacy.  Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy.

 

7.0 Platform Service and Availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Platform or any Platform Content at any time with or without notice to you. 

We will not be liable for any unavailability of the Platform or of any Platform Content if you have breached any of these terms or for any unavailability beyond our control.  If you have paid for Platform Content but we have failed to make it available to you, then our liability for any such unavailability will be limited to the rental price for that Platform Content. 

 

8.0 Rules of Use

You shall use the Platform and the Platform Content strictly in accordance with these terms. 

You will be authorised to use Platform Content only for personal, non-commercial use.  You may not make any Platform Content available for any commercial purpose, educational purpose or any other purpose not expressly authorised in these terms. 

You agree not to violate, circumvent, reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise tamper with any of the security technology related to the Platform and the Platform Content for any reason, or to interfere with, remove or alter any digital rights management information on the Platform or the Platform Content, or to attempt or assist another person to do so. 

You must not abuse or misuse the Platform by attempting to compromise the service by employing technologically harmful means or material.  

You will not use the Platform for any purpose which is unlawful, not authorised by us or otherwise conflicts with these terms. 

Your use of the Platform may be monitored and controlled by The Company or its service provider for compliance purposes at any time. 

 

9.0 Third Party Material

Some information contained in the Platform may link you to sites that are not owned or under the control of The Company.  The Company assumes no responsibility or liability for the content of those sites or otherwise for any third party material that may feature on the Platform.

 

10.0 Intellectual Property

The Platform and the Platform Content contain information and material that is owned by The Company and/or its licensors and/or service providers, and is protected by applicable intellectual property and other laws, including those relating to copyright.  The Company reserves for itself and such third parties all such rights in all jurisdictions throughout the World. 

You must not (and must not permit others to) authorise or assist any other person to remove or interfere with any copyright notices contained in any Platform Content. 

We take infringement of our copyright (and that of our licensors and service providers) seriously.  You must: 

– only use the Platform Content and related information and materials in the course of using the Platform in compliance with these terms and not for any other purpose; 

– not download, upload, copy, reproduce, communicate to the public, transmit, publish,  broadcast, modify, manipulate, rent, lease, loan, sell, distribute, or create any derivative works of any Platform Content or any part of it;  

– not copy, reproduce, modify or manipulate any part of the Platform and/or Platform Content in any manner; 

– not exploit the Platform or Platform Content in any unauthorised way whatsoever. 

We reserve all rights and remedies available to us to prevent any infringement of intellectual property we or our licensors or service providers own that is comprised in the Platform or Platform Content. 

The Company’s trade marks, service marks, graphics, and logos used in connection with the Platform are the intellectual property of The Company.  Other trade marks, service marks, graphics, and logos used in connection with the Platform or with Platform Content may be the trade marks of their respective owners. You are granted no right or licence with respect to any of the aforesaid trade marks and any use of such trade marks. 

 

We may: 

– terminate the agreement created between you and The Company pursuant to these terms; and 

– suspend access to the Platform (or any part thereof) or any Platform Content at any time without notice. 

Provided you are not in breach of these terms we will reimburse you for any Platform Content you have successfully paid for but has not been made available to you in accordance with clause 7 at the time of termination or suspension. 

We will not be liable if for any reason the Platform is unavailable at any time or for any period. From time to time, we may restrict access to some parts of the Platform or to Platform Content.   

We have the right to disable any User Account at any time, if in our opinion you have failed to comply with any of these terms. 

You may cease to use the Platform at any time. 

11.0 Disclaimer 

Your use of the Platform is at your own risk. 

The Company does not guarantee, represent or warrant the uninterrupted or error-free use of the Platform and shall not be liable for any loss arising from such events including but not limited to loss, corruption, attack, viruses, interference, hacking, or other security intrusion or any other factors beyond The Company’s and/or its licensors’ and/or its service providers’ reasonable control, including but not limited to the nature of your Compatible Device or internet connection.  

To the extent permitted by law, the Platform and the Platform Content are provided by The Company without warranties or guarantees of any kind, other than the statutory protection afforded to you by applicable legislation. 

12.0 Limitation of Liability

The Company’s liability shall be limited as set out in these terms and otherwise to the amount of any liability that may arise under any applicable legislation and solely in respect of the failure to comply with any guarantee corresponding to The Company’s supply of goods or services relating to the Platform or any Platform Content. 

The Company expressly excludes any liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damages incurred by any user in connection with the Platform or in connection with the use, inability to use, or results of the use of the Platform. 

13.0 Waiver and Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold The Company, its directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, contractors, and licensors harmless with respect to any claims arising out of your breach of these terms and your use of the Platform. 

The Company reserves the right to take any action we believe necessary to recover any sums you owe us. You agree that, in such circumstances, you will be liable for all costs and expenses incurred by us including, but not limited to, legal fees, collection fees, arbitration costs and court costs. 

 

14.0 Miscellaneous

These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and The Company regarding the Platform. 

If any part of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable the remaining parts of these terms shall remain in full force and effect. 

Our failure to enforce any right or provisions under these terms will not constitute a waiver of such provision or any other provision. 

We will not be responsible for failure to fulfil any obligation due to causes beyond our control.

We may notify you with respect to the Platform by sending an email message to your User email address. Notices shall become effective immediately when issued by us. 

 

15.0 Governing Law

These terms and your use of the Platform and Platform Content are governed by the jurisdiction where The Company is based for any claim or dispute relating in any way to your use of the Platform.
