Queer Film Festival

September 5-7 at HOTA Home of the Arts
Curated by Gold Coast Film Festival

These five vital films showcase the lived experience of LGBTIQ culture and politics, both its pleasures and what has to be fought for.

One thread to this year’s festival is Hating Peter Tatchell, a powerful and inspiring true story of a controversial human rights campaigner shoes provocative acts of civil disobedience rocked the British establishment, revolutionised attitudes to homosexuality and exposed world tyrants. The film follows Peter as he embarks on his riskiest crusade yet by seeking to disrupt the FIFA World Cup in Moscow to draw attention to the persecution of LGBT+ people in Russia and Chechnya.

Lovers of drama and history, comedy and politics are invited to join us at this year’s Queer Film Festival.

Queer Film Festival is curated by Gold Coast Film Festival guest programmers John Edmond (Queensland Film Festival) and Shanon King (Brisbane Queer Film Festival).
