EMERGE! Student Short Films

EMERGE! is a showcase of short films from some of Queensland’s most recent graduating film students. The event is designed to celebrate the best and brightest film talent from Queensland’s next generation of filmmakers from film schools, universities, and TAFE.

EMERGE! finalists are:
LOVE CLUB by Anna McGuckin – Griffith Film School
MR SNAP by Laila Schmidinger – Griffith Film School
A SEASON IN HELL by Nancy Cao – Bond University
THE LONGING by Maali Albert & Francis Sikalas – Bond University
POP N POSSUM by Christian Staats & Aminah A Malek – QUT
A BETTER WORLD by Georgia Emery & Brandon Do – QUT
PAINT by Luke Speech – NYFA
DINNER TIME by Abdul Khan – SAE
THE STRAWMAN by Jamie Zin – JMC Academy
UNDER THE SKIN by Avicia Dutton – TAFE Coomera
CROSSROAD REDS by William Law – TAFE Coomera

The awards for Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay will be awarded on the night and judged by Gold Coast Film Festival Program Manager Sasha Close and a Screen Queensland representative. The Best Student Short Film Award will receive a $250 cash prize and is presented to the best film at the prestigious Screen Industry Gala Awards on Thursday 15 April at Movie World.


Wednesday 21 April, 5pm- Theatre 1, HOTA Home of the Arts

Tickets: $17 adults, $14 concession. Tickets include one Burleigh Brewing Co. beer.
