NEW FESTIVAL DIRECTOR APPOINTED AT GOLD COAST FILM FESTIVAL

The Gold Coast’s major film event has welcomed Aimée Lindorff as new Festival Director.

Following the departure of Lucy Fisher after five years at the Festival’s helm, a national recruitment saw applications from across Australia, with Queensland local Aimée Lindorff selected as the successful applicant.

Ms Lindorff has been appointed as the new Festival Director and brings a wealth of experience in both cultural event producing and screen production.

Ms Lindorff was Program and Services Manager of Queensland Writers Centre from 2013 to 2016 where she created the Whispers Salon and QLD Script House, is the Producer of Screen Queensland’s SQ On Airpodcast and in 2019, was production manager at WildBear Entertainment. Aimee is also a book reviewer for Aurealis magazine, is co-founder of Inside Voice storytelling project and was events producer of the Gold Coast Film Festival in 2017, producing Australia’s first Gold Coast Movie Locations Tour.

Chair of Gold Coast Film Fantastic, Sue-Anne Chapman, says the Board is excited to welcome Aimée to the Festival and to see what fresh eyes and enthusiasm she will bring to the Festival.

“Aimée brings a wealth of experience in arts and culture here in Queensland and we’re thrilled to welcome her onboard as the new Festival Director of the Gold Coast Film Festival,” said Ms Chapman.

“The 2021 GCFF will be an exciting opportunity for Aimée to apply her skills and knowledge to run the Festival’s first-ever hybrid program, and we look forward to working with, and supporting her through, this journey.”

Aimée says it’s an honour and a privilege to join the Gold Coast Film Festival team, one of her favourite festivals in Australia.

“Under Lucy’s leadership Gold Coast Film Festival is at the forefront of challenging our expectations at the movies, providing unique cinematic experiences and engaging cultural conversation – and I look forward to continuing that tradition in 2021 as the Festival moves to incorporate more online content and hybrid programming” says Ms Lindorff.

Aimée will commence as Festival Director this week and will lead the delivery of the 19th annual Gold Coast Film Festival, 14-25 April 2021.
