TWO NEW FILMS ANNOUNCED!

We’re excited to announce two new films joining the Gold Coast Film Festival program!

TULLY:

We’re thrilled to announce our mystery movie is Sundance-favourite, TULLY.

Charlize Theron is dynamite as Marlo, a mother struggling to deal with two toddlers and a newborn. When Marlo’s brother gifts her a nanny named Tully, her life suddenly changes. Tully is young, radiant and energetic, helping with demands of motherhood. But what happens when Tully has to move on?

This biting dark comedy on the tribulations of young motherhood comes from the prescient pen of Diablo Cody, the genius behind Juno, Young Adult and the United States of Tara. With a radiant performance from Mackenzie Davis as Tully, and electric direction from Jason Reitman, this is a quietly radical and thoroughly modern feminist take on life as a new mother in the 21st century.

Saturday 21 April, 4pm – HOTA, Home of the Arts. Tickets on sale here

LBJ:

A secret film will also join the program – political biopic LBJ.

Following the assassination of President Kennedy, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was thrust into the top spot at time when the United States was divided and mourning. This compelling historical drama charts the journey LBJ took during an extraordinarily complex moment in history.

Featuring a stunningly unexpected and transformative turn from Woody Harrelson as LBJ, this is a sophisticated yet shrewdly entertaining trip through US politics in the early 1960s. Directed by the legendary Rob Reiner (A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride), LBJ is a dynamic political drama packed with sharp performances and sensational period detail.

Saturday 21 April, 8.30pm & Tuesday 24 April, 10am – HOTA, Home of the Arts. Tickets on sale here
