The celebration is a free event featuring a delicious Asian street food market, superb local restaurants, live music and cultural entertainment, children’s activities, pop up laneway bar, spectacular fireworks display and a screening of family-favourite Mulan, thanks to the Gold Coast Film Festival.

Everyone is invited, so come along with your family and friends to help celebrate the Gold Coast’s largest Lunar New Year Celebration!

Gates open at 4pm with food and entertainment then settle in for Mulan at 6.45pm.

MULAN:
Fearful that her ailing father will be drafted into the Chinese military, Mulan (Ming-Na Wen) takes his spot — though, as a girl living under a patriarchal regime, she is technically unqualified to serve. She cleverly impersonates a man and goes off to train with fellow recruits. Accompanied by her dragon, Mushu (Eddie Murphy), she uses her smarts to help ward off a Hun invasion, falling in love with a dashing captain along the way.

This free event will feature a delicious Asian street food market, superb local restaurants, live music and cultural entertainment, children’s activities, film screening, pop up laneway bar and a spectacular fireworks display.

Getting to the event is easy. Ride your bike and receive a free bike maintenance check, or catch the G: Link direct to Southport station. Alternatively, there is parking at several local City of Gold Coast car parks including:

– Mal Burke car park – corner Hinze and Davenport Streets

– Athol Patterson car park – near Southport Library

– Carey Park car park – Broadwater Parklands
