We’re thrilled to announce Gold Coast Film Festival’s new Closing Night film will be Gold Coast-shot sci-fi/romance, Love and Monsters.

Celebrate Closing Night of the Gold Coast Film Festival with a special one-off event screening of the post-apocalyptic, ultra-fun monster movie Love and Monsters, starring Dylan O’Brien (Maze Runner).

Filmed on the Gold Coast and nominated for a 2021 Academy Award for Best Visual effects, Love and Monsters is an enjoyable and entertaining film with lots of close encounters of the insect kind.

In the near future, a comet is on a direct path to Earth. To deflect the approaching comet, missiles are sent up, all good, except the irradiated pieces drop back to earth and instantly mutate all cold-blooded creatures — cockroaches, worms — into huge, human-hungry monsters. In this monster-infested world, humans are forced underground and live-in bunkers. When Joel (O’Brien) learns his girlfriend (Jessica Henwick, Game of Thrones) is just 85 miles away, he discovers his inner hero and starts on the dangerous journey above ground to reconnect with her.
