Thank you to everyone who attended the 2017 Gold Coast Film Festival!
Over 12 days, we presented over 120 films, panels, parties and events across 13 Gold Coast locations to pull off the biggest and best festival yet! The festival screened 32 feature films from 13 countries, including four World premieres, nine Australian premieres and eight Queensland premieres.
Special guests this year included Deborah Mailman, Sue Maslin, Kellan Lutz, Isabel Lucas, Temuera Morrison, Simon Wincer, Claudia Karvan, Jan Chapman, David Stratton, and many more.
Kicking off the Festival with the Queensland Premiere of Kiwi caper Pork Pie on opening night, it was a pleasure hearing from director Matt Murphy, producer Tom Hern and executive producer Alan Harris in an entertaining and enlightening Q&A after the film.
Zoolander Model Boat Party saw the really really really ridiculously good-looking people of the Gold Coast hop onboard the newly refurbished Wyndham Cruises boat for a night of comedic intrigue and blue steel cocktails for a special screening of the 2001 cult classic Zoolander – complete with Derek Zoolander and Hansel enticing guests with their signature pouts.
Movie Trivia Night at QT Gold Coast saw reigning champions, Screen Junkies take out first prize again. Challenge is on to beat the dream team next year!
On Sunday evening we closed out the festival with the world premiere of pulse-pounding action thriller Event Zero.
What an adventure! We want to thank everyone who attended the festival and look forward to seeing you again next year.
