OPENING NIGHT: Wednesday 19 April, 6.45pm | The Arts Centre Gold Coast

Soak up the electric atmosphere of opening night! Walk the red carpet, grab pictures of PORK PIE’s filmmakers and stars, and enjoy the opening night speeches (not too long, we promise!), plus hear all the behind-the-scenes stories in a Q&A with filmmakers after the film.

Sweet and entertaining, Pork Pie is inspired by the iconic 1980 Kiwi classic, Goodbye Pork Pie, catapulting that story into the 21st century. Hot on the heels of Hunt for The Wilderpeople comes another charmer from New Zealand, as a mismatched trio of accidental outlaws played by Dean O’Gorman (The Hobbit), Ashleigh Cummings (TV’s Puberty Blues and this fest’s Hounds of Love) and James Rolleston (Boy) speed across New Zealand in a stolen MINI Cooper on a madcap caper filled with unexpected detours and hilarious encounters.

Writer and film critic Maria Lewis will moderate a on-stage Q&A with PORK PIE director Matt Murphy, producer Tom Hern and executive producer Alan Harris.

2nd April – NEWS: A big congratulations to PORK PIE star James Rolleston who has been cast in a new TV comedy series!  Unfortunately, it means he now can’t attend our Opening Night screening of the film as he’ll be on set.
