Asia Pacific Screen Awards Nominees to Show at Festival.

Five films nominated at this year’s Asia Pacific Screen Awards will appear at this year’s Gold Coast Film Festival.

Opening night film Let the Bullets Fly, the highest grossing domestic film in Chinese history, has been nominated for Best Feature Film and Achievement in Directing.

Turkish film Once Upon a Time in Anatolia has been nominated for Best Feature Film, Achievement in Directing, Achievement in Cinematography and Best Screenplay. The film’s director, Nuri Blige Ceylan, won the 2008 Achievement in Directing for his film Three Monkeys.

Norwegian Wood, the Japanese film based on the once considered unadaptable novel from Haruki Murakami is nominated for an Achievement in Cinematography.

Nadezhda Markina, who plays the lead role in the Russian film Elena, is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress for her work in this tale that takes a modern look at the idea of survival of the fittest.

Finally, from legendary producer Noritaka Kawaguchi, comes the stunning traditional animation Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, which is nominated for Best Animated Feature Film. Noritaka was the inaugural APSA winner for Best Animated Film in 2007 for 5 Centimetres per second.
